To kickoff the Conservancy’s 2021 fundraising efforts to improve the Rahway Fairy Trail, Toyota Motor of North America donated $2,500 on April 26th. In announcing the award, Briana Nelson, General Manager of Toyota’s New York Region, stated she “was looking forward to seeing the improvements” which will include rope and spit-rail fencing to protect vegetation from the dozens of families who visit each week. In the past 12 months, the Conservancy has developed a master plan for the 1800-foot trail, met with the County to develop drainage plans, constructed a bridge (Eagle Scout project), and applied for a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation matching grant. In April, it began installing low rope barriers with the help of Scout Troop 21 of Maplewood.
