There was a recent report about a person and his dog encountering a coyote in the reservation. The coyote was protecting a bag of garbage left on the trail and engaged with the man and dog. This is a reminder that animals live in the reservation, as well as in our surrounding towns. In this case the dog emerged okay, but people need to be aware of the impact of their own use of the Reservation. Please do not leave litter and trash on the trails, and this includes dog waste bags. Pack it out or use a trash bin by trail heads or parking areas.
