Started in 2025, the Conservancy Ambassadors Program consists of a cadre of volunteers that promote the SMC and its mission to maintain and improve the reservation. Specifically, Ambassadors:
- Educate visitors about SMC’s mission & programs
- Encourage responsible trail use
- Promote membership, donations, and volunteerism
- Share trail knowledge & interact with hikers
- Gather feedback to improve visitor experiences
Commitment:
- Minimum of 6 volunteer days per year, preferably one Saturday or Sunday per month at key SMR locations.
- Occasional tabling at community events (fairs, festivals, etc.)
- Uniforms, training & materials provided (history, ecology, outreach tips)
- 18+ only
